Abstract

This research goal is to find out how 1) teacher’s perception of headmaster’s leadership, 2) student’s perception of headmaster’s leadership, 3) how is headmaster’s leadership reality in SMA N I Kalasan Sleman. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with case study approach. Data sources in this study were teachers, principals, vice principals of the curriculum section, and students. Data collection techniques used interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Data validity uses informant feedback techniques and triangulation of methods, data, and theories. Data analysis uses path analysis model to analyze qualitative and quantitative data through the following steps: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification or drawing conclusion. The results showed that: 1) theacher has positive perception of headmaster’s leadership whether it concerns academic leadership or learning, managerial leadership, and organizational leadership, 2) students has positive perception of headmaster’s leadership whether it concerns academic leadership or learning, managerial leadership, and organizational leadership. The headmaster perceived to be professional to lead SMA N I Kalasan Sleman therefore there is good synergy between school academic communities. The leadership wheel goes well proved through good academic achievement, student achievement, and teachers achivements and students in developing the quality of learning. The conclusion of this study is that teachers and students’ perceptions are positive for the principal’s leadership, in which the reality of leadership has indeed performed well.
